ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS INTO ND AND HND PROGRAMMES

Admission into ND programmes

Admission into ND programmes shall be through the Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examinations (UTME), as well as successful completion of a one-year preliminary programme or other approved measures, having passed WASSCE/NECO with at least five credit passes in relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. However, admission requirements vary from one department to the other, thus departmental requirement shall be based on NBTE standard as specified below:

ND in Science and Technology and Engineering programmes

Five O’ Level Credit passes in:

  1.  English Language
  2.  Mathematics
  3.  Physics
  4.  Chemistry and any other one from:
  5.  Biology
  6.  Agricultural Science
  7.  Health Science
  8. Economics/ Commerce
  9.  Further Mathematics
  10.  Geography

ND in Management Sciences and Communication Programmes

Five O’ Level passes in:

  1.  Mathematics
  2.  English Language and any three from
  3.  Economics/ Commerce
  4.  Business Method
  5. Principles of Account
  6. Government
  7.  Further Mathematics
  8.  Biology
  9. Agricultural Sciences
  10. Literature-in-English

Admission into HND Programmes

Candidates with qualifications as listed below shall be considered for admission in HND programmes:

  1.  The minimum entry requirements (O’ level) for ND programme in the requisite course.
  2.  National Diploma statement of result and certificate in requisite course only.
  3.  A minimum of one year Post-National Diploma cognate work experience where a candidate has a minimum of lower credit. Where a candidate has a pass, he/she shall have not less than three (3) years of cognate work experience.

Registration and Documentation

  1.  Registration and documentation is compulsory for every new and returning student at the beginning of each semester and/or academic session.
  2.  Registration of new and old students shall be in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Polytechnic which may be reviewed from time to time.
  3. Registration and documentation of old and new students involve the payment of all prescribed fees (in FULL)  at the APPROVED BANKS and the registration of courses at the beginning of the semester and/ or session.
  4. Any returning student who fails to pay the prescribed fee in FULL and register his/her courses shall not be considered as a bonafide student of the polytechnic. 

NOTE: Each new student on arrival shall:

  •  Pay the prescribed fees into WEMA BANK-0122987928, or ZENITH BANK-116600053 or pay ONLINE at www.uyocitypoly.edu.ng;
  •  Take the teller to the Bursary Unit and obtain an Admission Form
  •  Take the form to Admission Unit, with all your credentials  and obtain your Admission Letter ( if you are qualified)
  •  Obtain fee schedule from the Admission Officer of Bursary Unit and pay the stipulated tuition fee into the bank mentioned above, and take the bank teller back to the Bursary Unit and obtain an official receipt.
  •  Take your fee receipt along with your admission letter to the Polytechnic’s Clinic for medical screening;
  •  Take the evidence of the medical screening and receipt to the Registry to obtain you Registration Number

Each new student shall be expected to present the following documents to the Admission Officer during registration:

  1.  Certificate of Local Government Origin
  2.  First School Leaving Certificate
  3.  O’ Level result
  4.  Letter of Attestation
  5.  A medical test and report from the Polytechnic Medical Centre
  6.  Original and photocopies of Statement of Result (HND applicants
  7.  Photocopy of Birth Certificate/ Declaration of Age
  8. Evidence of Change of Name (if applicable) 

 

 

DURATION FOR ND AND HND PROGRAMMES

National and Higher National Diploma Programmes are billed to last for two years respectively. If a student is unable to complete the programme within this period, the student will be allowed one extra year to do so. At the expiration of this period, the student would be advised to withdraw from the Polytechnic.

Things To Know First

The Common Application is required for students applying to any or all of UCP’s Programmes. You’ll be able to choose your campus and program s that you are interested.

You will need :

  • Contact information for the counselor or other school representative who will complete your Common Application School Report and submit your official high school transcript.
  • Contact information for one teacher (or two, maximum) who will complete the Teacher Evaluation form.
  • Nonrefundable application fee. Students who are unable to pay the application fee can request a fee waiver.
