About Uyo City Poly

Uyo City Polytechnic metamorphosed from the former School of Accountancy and Business Studies, Uyo, which was established in September, 1972, and approved by the Ministry of Education of the erstwhile South Eastern State of Nigeria with a back-up letter, referenced MOE/PL/27/58. In April 1997, the Akwa Ibom State Government through its Ministry of Education issued a letter uploading the earlier approval of the school referenced MOE/SS/30/VOL.111/SUB.22/123.

The School which had earlier been affiliated to The Polytechnic, Cross River State University and University of Uyo in September 2003, changed its name to Uyo City Polytechnic, an institution that was in March 2012, incorporated as a tertiary institution under the Company and Allied Matters Acts of 1990 (RC1019539).

Its mission is to establish, own, operate and run a Polytechnic that will be relevant in addressing the needs and challenges of the 21st century. Its major objective is to provide improvement in technical education, through consistent research and development and regular contact with other institutions, organizations and agencies in both the private and public sectors.
